Chapters 3-5

As I read through these chapters, I felt like the Tin Man from the Wizard of Oz as he slowly begins to function after being oiled. I am trying to read this textbook with a purpose and the more I read, the more I am beginning to remember. I like the fact that the chapters are so easy to read. I like the way examples are used, and the author, so far is doing a good job getting right down to the point (Percy, if he were still alive, should take a cue from McWhorter). In high school and previous college courses, I always enjoyed writing, (I even won first place in an essay contest) but a weak point for me was organizational tactics-I never wanted to bother with them. I always fluffed over the technical stuff and managed to do pretty good. This time around, I really want to be able to understand and utilize the techniques reviewed in the chapters.

  1. Hey Amy. Just got your comment on my blog. I have hunted Turkeys a few times. Still haven’t gotten one. They are hard birds to hunt. They have great eye sight and impeccable hearing. Sounds like you might have a little hunter on your hands. :) The South can have that effect on people.:) Have a good rest of the week , see you tonight.

  2. Percy can be very much to the point. So if this is true, why would he not be to the point in this particular piece? Perhaps he has a reason for not being more direct.
